European Rover Challenge – international robotics and space competition at the AGH University of Krakow

The prestigious international robotics and space competition will take place at AGH University of Krakow from 6 to 8 of September, 2024. The Space Technology Center is co-organizing the event on behalf of AGH.

ERC is a respected international event in the space and robotics  industry, combining several elements: a Mars rover competition featuring the best academic teams from around the world, a space conference, and the Inspiration Zone.

The main task for student teams participating in ERC is to design and  build a Mars rover that can perform planned tasks with great precision, based on real NASA and ESA space missions. The competition takes place on a specially prepared area – a 900 m² simulated Martian surface, modeled after Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in the Solar System. This area will include steep cliffs, a complex navigation labyrinth, and numerous challenges related to landslides, glacial formations, and even small volcanoes.

However, ERC is not just about Mars rover competitions. During the conference, crucial experts from the space sector, astronauts, and scientists will talk about space and its impact on our lives. Presentations, lectures, and debates will cover topics such as space exploration, plans for settlements on Mars and the Moon, and the impact of space technologies on everyday life on Earth. The Inspiration Zone is a space where exhibitors – representatives of companies, universities, research institutions, and scientific clubs –will showcase their experiments and products.

We invite you to participate – admission is free!
