ISAE-SUPAERO hosted a student conference

On January 17th, ISAE-SUPAERO hosted a student conference about the future of satellite constellations (challenges and prospects).

Numerous different actors were able to address different aspects of this theme. Stéphanie Lizy-Destrez, teacher-researcher at ISAE-SUPAERO and head of the “Advanced Space Concepts” chair (SaCLab), but also Christophe Grudler, Member of the European Parliament, rapporteur for the European satellite constellation project IRIS2 and vice-president of the Sky and Space Intergroup were part of the conference. Christophe Grudler addressed the political aspects of satellite constellations. The topic of security of space operations was addressed by Juan Carlos Dolado Perez, Academician, Expert in security of space operations and space traffic management, Former Head of space surveillance at CNES, and Co-founder of Look Up Space. Then, Marlène de Bank, a Member of Aero Decarbo (whose aim is to encourage the transition of the aerospace sector to a world that respects planetary limits), spoke about the environmental impacts of satellite constellations. Finally, Jérôme Tronc, Senior Expert End to End Telecom System at Airbus Defence and Space brought the point of view of the industrialists, in particular that of Airbus, on satellite constellations.
