Our speaker on 27 March 2026 will be: Professor Benoît Muylkens is a veterinary virologist and professor at University of Namur. His work focuses on molecular virology. He was named “Namurois of the Year” in 2020 for his contribution to coronavirus research and public health. He is also interested in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and has published two articles describing his CLIL teaching practices.
About the talk:
The talk presents an integrated teaching approach resulting from the collaboration of an animal ethnography professor and an English teacher. We first describe the underlying motivations for this project and the practical organisation of the course mixing both flipped classrooms and co-teaching.
We then analyse the impact of the adopted approach on the students’ interest for the course and the English language, as well as their feelings regarding their progress in the target language.
This meet-up marks the first session devoted to the perspective of an EMI teacher, following participants’ interest in hearing about EMI from the classroom practitioner’s standpoint.
