ISS UNIVERSEH CHALLENGE – a unique contest to design an experiment for the internal section of the International Space Station (ISS)

UNIVERSEH AGH invites students from its consortium partners to participate in the "ISS UNIVERSEH CHALLENGE" - a unique contest to design an experiment for the internal section of the International Space Station (ISS).

The prize in the competition is a unique opportunity to visit the laboratories of ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre) in the Netherlands, which are not normally accessible to outsiders. The winners will be given a guided tour of these laboratories, meet experts, and establish new international collaborations.

The visit to ESTEC will take place on April 15-17, 2025.

The main aims of the activity are:

  • Learning how to design space experiment,
  • Learning how to  document projects according to ESA requirements,
  • Learning how to recognise  critical considerations for space research,
  • Developing transferable skills such as project management, problem-solving, and teamwork while preparing experiments, documentation, and technical materials.
  • Practising soft skills such as effective communication, collaboration, and critical thinking, which can be enhanced through every stage of the project—from concept development to final documentation.

Finalists will gain the opportunity to present their projects and exchange ideas in a multicultural and interdisciplinary setting during the KUBIK Symposium, taking place on 16-17 April 2025 at ESTEC in the Netherlands.
