UNIVERSEH at Asteroid Day 2025 – Shaping the Next Space Generation

On 27 June 2025, UNIVERSEH took part in this year’s Asteroid Day Festival in Luxembourg, contributing to the global conversation on education, innovation, and humanity’s future in space.

Eric Tschirhart represented UNIVERSEH during an inspiring panel discussion titled “Liftoff to Learning: Shaping the Space Generation.” This session brought together experts from leading institutions including the Luxembourg Space Agency, European Commission – DG DEFIS, and CNRS to discuss how education ignites curiosity, drives innovation, and prepares students for careers in the dynamic space sector.

Eric Tschirhart highlighted UNIVERSEH’s role in empowering students through interdisciplinary programmes, fostering collaboration between universities, industry, and agencies to meet the evolving needs of Europe’s space ecosystem.

The Asteroid Day Festival, organised by the Asteroid Foundation and supported by the Luxembourg Space Agency, Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), and Ville de Luxembourg, continues to be a vibrant platform connecting students, researchers, and the public with the pioneers shaping humanity’s future in space.

About Asteroid Day and the Asteroid Foundation

Founded in 2014, Asteroid Day ( Asteroid Day – UN-sanctioned global awareness campaign)  is the United Nations-sanctioned global awareness campaign aimed at educating the world about asteroids, their role in our solar system, and the importance of planetary defence.

The Asteroid Foundation, based in Luxembourg, organises events throughout the year including the Asteroid Day Festival. This initiative brings together astronauts, scientists, engineers, and the public for engaging discussions, panels, and activities about space science, innovation, and planetary protection.
