Students at Luleå University of Technology’s Space Campus presented their projects to university directors from Sweden and the UK. The visit provided an opportunity to share knowledge, build new connections and showcase how student initiatives can contribute to wider collaboration.
The presentations were coordinated by Giron Space Organisation (GSO), which supports student space projects and develops partnerships with external organisations. GSO President and master student in Space Science and Technology, Katrina Yzabel Baladjay, introduced the organisation’s activities followed by presentation of student projects.
“Events like this allow students to develop their presentation skills and promote their projects. They can also lead to valuable connections and future support for the student teams,” says Katrina Yzabel Baladjay, who is also Systems Engineer for Project APTAS, in which students at LTU’s Space Campus are building a CubeSat.
The visit highlighted how student engagement can create new meeting points between academia and the wider community.
The Swedish universities visiting Luleå University of Technology were Linköping University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Mid Sweden University, the University of Gothenburg, Stockholm University and the Stockholm School of Economics. The UK universities were the University of Manchester, the University of Birmingham, City University of London, the Open University, the University of Stirling, the University of Bristol and Cardiff University.
The networking session and the presentations took place within the framework of UNIVERSEH’s Work Package 7, Service to Society.
