The individuals selected for the Emerging Space Leaders Grant Programme will also participate in other activities held at the occasion of the Congress, such as the UN/IAF Workshop or the Space Generation Congress (SGC) and the Cross-Cultural Communications and Presentation Workshop.
Elizaveta Shashkova is a current Master student at ISAE-Supaero in Toulouse, she is interested in Space Exploration and Human Factors. Born in Moscow in 1999, she moved to Lyon, France, when she was 6. Very fond of traveling, she is a passionate organiser; and which trips could be more exiting to plan than to the Moon, to Mars and further?
After a bachelor’s degree in Physics at the University of Strasbourg she joined the Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering at ISAE-Supaero in Toulouse. Specialising in space systems, she developed a very wide and deep outlook on the sector and was able to apply this knowledge to a variety of projects. She got a first grip on the organisation of space missions as a member of the project management team, by joining CoRoDro, a group of MSc and PhD students whose aim is to create an autonomous collaboration between a drone and a rover. In the context of IGLUNA 2021, an interdisciplinary platform where students from worldwide universities design and collaborate on innovative projects for the future of space exploration and the improvement of life on Earth, she was helping to supervise the development of a Collaborative and autonomous Rover-Drone system for Moon exploration.
At the same time, Elizaveta got involved in UNIVERSEH, the European Space University for Earth and Humanity, as the president of the Student Council. Her role consisted in representing students at the Governing Board and Steering Committee, as well as creating and leading the local student team in Toulouse. Besides, she participated in the European Student Assembly, working alongside student representatives from all over Europe to write recommendations for the European Parliament on the topic of higher education.
For her master’s research project, she was welcomed to Spaceship FR, a project of the French space agency CNES that aims to develop the technological bricks necessary to create a sustainable base on the Moon and Mars. There, she worked on the mission and electrical system of a Moon habitat. For her end-of-the-studies internship, she stayed in the team to develop an AI assistant for astronauts in a space station, able to monitor the base as well as support the astronauts in their activities. She is also very passionate about illustration, cinema, and animation as well as board games.
