Beyond UNIVERSEH presented "Humanities in Space" in Brussels

The Beyond UNIVERSEH project, which is connected to the European university alliance UNIVERSEH, forms the research cornerstone of the Alliance and links the scientific expertise of the universities with external stakeholders. Representatives of the Alliance recently held a controversial discussion on the topic of "Opportunities and challenges in space research" at the North Rhine-Westphalia state representation in Brussels.

As part of the Beyond UNIVERSEH research project, Heinrich Heine University invited representatives from various disciplines to a panel discussion. The panellists included (pictured from right) Dr Jens Temmen from the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Prof Dr Vincent Simoulin from the Université de Toulouse, Prof Dr Stefan Marschall from the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Dr Christina Stange-Fayos from the Université de Toulouse, and Prof Dr Annick Castiaux from the Université de Namur. The moderation was led by PhD student Laetitia Cesari (first from left) from the University of Luxembourg, who is researching the legal background in space. From political science to literature, sociology, economics and law, the topic was explored from different perspectives.

During a subsequent networking session, guests had the opportunity to talk to the panellists and event participants in person. The aim of the event was both to publicise the “Beyond UNIVERSEH” project to a wider audience and to convince decision-makers of the need to continue supporting this research idea in the future.
