Launch of the two payloads by UNIVERSEH students

The 2022-2023 Master in Space Technology and Instrumentation (M2 TSI) successfully launched their two payloads SACRED (SolAr energy CollectoR and muon particlEs Detector) and LACRA (Lab for Aerosol Counting Research in the Atmosphere) with stratospheric balloons operated by the CNES from Aire sur l’Adour.

This is a part of the UNIVERSEH course ‘Stratospheric Balloons: an initiation project‘, coordinated and taught by Pr. Hassan Sabbah from the Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier (UT3) in France, and Pr. Victoria Barabash and Pr. Rene Laufer from Luleå Tekniska Universitet (LTU) in Sweden.

The LACRA payload includes a replication of the ALMA project developed at LTU. This is a collaborative work between students from both sites. All the objectives have been reached. Students are working now on the data analysis. A complete report per balloon will be delivered at the end of April, 2023.
