At Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, UNIVERSEH invited Alliance members and the public alike to a shared viewing session at Himmelgeist beach on the Rhine.
Well over 100 people joined the university for a cloudless evening, equipped with free solar viewers, light refreshments, and pinhole cameras. UNIVERSEH staff delivered short, interactive lectures on the physics, cultural significance, and design history behind this rare astronomical event—feeding curiosity alongside the snacks. Radio was present on site, broadcasting live to regional audiences.
As dusk approached, the eclipse arrived: with perfectly clear skies and close to 90% obscuration, the 2026 solar eclipse left a lasting impression on all HHU and UNIVERSEH guests in Düsseldorf.
