Programme of the event:
14.00 – Arrival and Exploration room
14.30 – From Earth to the Universe
This stunning, 30-minute voyage through time and space conveys, through an arresting combination of sights and sounds, the Universe revealed to us by science. The show was produced for the ESO Supernova Planetarium and Visitor Centre.
15.00 – Exploration room & Coffee Time
16.00 – Planets and constellations (1 hour show hosted by a scientific mediator)
From the observation of the daily night sky on Earth (constellations, moon phases, interesting celestial phenomena, planets visibility) to a short journey through the solar system with a handy spaceship (heliocentric view, comparative planetology, landings on rocky planets, moons and asteroids, gaseous giant rings, etc).
17.00 – Departure
After a short presentation at the Exploration Room, the participants enjoyed a 30 minutes show/film produced for the ESO Supernova Planetarium and Visitor Centre; a voyage through time and space conveys, through an arresting combination of sights and sounds (the Universe revealed to us by science). Back to the Exploration Room and after having enjoyed some time (and coffee) together, students enjoyed a show hosted by a scientific mediator. Planets and constellations show took them from the observation of the daily night sky on Earth (constellations, moon phases, interesting celestial phenomena, planets visibility) to a short journey through the solar system with a handy spaceship (heliocentric view, comparative planetology, landings on rocky planets, moons and asteroids, gaseous giant rings, etc.),
As a conclusion, Professor Eric Tschirhart, the coordinator of UNIVERSEH project, gave a presentation on the alliance, future UNIVERSEH projects and activities.
The students were able to experience the space journey through the solar system and also learn more about UNIVERSEH European University, an alliance of five young and mature universities from five European countries, that focuses on the development of educational activities and innovative collaborations in the European space sector.
This activity helped the UNIVERSEH team to get in touch with students from different study fields, such as Communication in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts, Science in Psychology, Entrepreneurship and Innovation and others. Students showed a clear interest in this type of activities and were interested to take part for the next events organised by UNIVERSEH.
