Language Café

The UNIVERSEH Online Language Café offers an opportunity to practice French, Swedish, Polish, German or English outside the language class in a relaxed setting. You will join small groups according to your target language and be supported by student tutors who are not language teachers but competent native speakers. No matter if you are a beginner (A1.2 level) or a more advanced learner, every Wednesday from 18:00 to 19:00, you can expand your linguistic and intercultural skills and network with other language enthusiasts from the entire UNIVERSEH Alliance.

Language and Identity Seminar

Nearly 60% of the world population speaks at least two or more languages. Multilingualism, in the EU’s view, is an important element in Europe’s competitiveness. One of the objectives of the EU’s language policy is therefore that every European citizen should master two other languages in addition to their mother tongue.
In this seminar, we will reflect on our own plurilingualism and get to know tools that help us in the self-evaluation of our own language skills. We will take a closer look at the differences between specific terms such as multi- and plurilingualism, code-switching and translanguaging. Furthermore, a closer look on the plurilingual and pluricultural competences will help us focus on cultural aspects that are linked to language itself.
The seminar starts with a pre-task that is a prerequisite for the attendance of the synchronous part that will take place online. The plenary session includes various group- and partner-activities.
The seminar consists of 4 contact hours (synchronous) and 4 individual study hours (asynchronous).

UNIVERSEH students will benefit from the expertise of a professional intercultural trainer who will provide a comprehensive intercultural competence training and share her experience about the business rules or communication patterns in Poland. This workshop will be delivered as a virtual training session and can be attended separately or together with the other UNIVERSEH-Intercultural-Workshops.

Intensive German A1.1 Online Course

The aim of the course is that students can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type, introduce him/herself and others, ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has and interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Intensive French A1 Online Course
04.09.2023 to 22.09.2023
The course will be offered online as an intensive course (60 hours).The teaching is based on a multimodal approach including the use of a regular textbook, a learning-app and training-videos. The course combines traditional online teaching (synchronous) with asynchronous self-directed learning sessions.The aim of the course is that students can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type, introduce him/herself and others, ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has and interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
English C1.1 Online Course
04.09.2023 to 15.09.2023
The focus of this course is the deepening of the four competences “speaking”, “writing”, “listening” and “reading” on a C1.1-equivalent language level. Emphasis will be placed on deepening communication skills, mastery of technical vocabulary related to the space sector, improving presentation skills, and enhance student-centered learning networks through its focus on interdisciplinary topics and discussions related to the space sector. The content is based on the CEFR-scale and is goal-oriented.The course will be offered online as an intensive course (60 hours).
English C1.2 Online Course
18.09.2023 to 28.09.2023
