Workshop : “Pitching your research to diverse audiences”

Are you a student or a doctoral candidate eager to master your ability  to communicate your research effectively?

Here's your chance to shine! Take part in our virtual workshop

Take part in our virtual workshop! We’re thrilled to invite you to an upcoming workshop hosted by UNIVERSEH addressed to students and doctoral candidates aiming to showcase their
research findings during conference poster sessions. Gain insights on how to tailor your research pitch for various audiences!

Lead Instructors:

Anna Krukiewicz-Gacek (AGH University of Krakow)
Sonja Bretschneider (Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf)

What to expect and why:

Picture this scenario: You step into an elevator, and someone asks,
“What’s your research about?” How do you react? Excited? Anxious? At a loss for words? Crafting an effective elevator pitch can be daunting yet crucial for researchers. A scientific poster serves as a summary of research findings, typically showcased at conferences. However, poster sessions present unique challenges, such as time constraints, noisy environments, and diverse audiences. Yet, they offer invaluable opportunities to enhance your skills and confidence. Join us to master your skills!

During the workshop, you’ll discover essential dos and don’ts for
delivering a compelling elevator pitch for your poster, with practical exercises to refine your presentation skills within a 3-minute timeframe.

This workshop caters to two participant groups: those with prepared posters for upcoming conferences and those interested in observing and learning skills for future use.

Agenda:

  • Scientific elevator pitches – facts, rules and tips
  • Pitching your research in a conversation – an interactive session in the break-out rooms
  • Feedback, conclusions  and lessons learned
  • Information for students wishing to participate in an elevator pitch competition

Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your research presentation skills and captivate diverse audiences!
